We have a wealth of experience at chairing and facilitating hazard and safety integrity level (SIL) workshops and SIL determination reviews. Leading SIL studies and SIL workshops requires not only sound technical knowledge, but also good SIL workshop leadership skills. SIL

 

At Safety Engineering Solutions, each SIL workshop facilitator is a certified Functional Safety Engineer. Applying the principles of IEC 61508/61511, we can lead Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments using methodologies such as Risk Matrix, Risk Graph and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA). The session can be recorded using standard software such as Word and Excel or more efficient means such as PHA Pro or ExSILentia which allows the output from a HAZOP to be automatically transferred into the SIL assessment, thereby saving time. Bowtie LOPAs can also be conducted using Bowtie XP software which allow for a more visual-based, engaging assessment. Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)

 

LOPA is an industry standard technique, a team-based assessment of a process using a structured methodology to assign a safety integrity level to a safety instrumented function (SIF). Our primary LOPA Chairman is Alastair Millard -IChemE trained and TUV certified Functional Safety Engineer with a wealth of experience in different industries. The LOPA workshop leader can manage the whole process from developing the terms of reference, through to management of LOPA actions. Using PHA Pro, ExSILentia (or other software of your choice) to record the review allows for the capture of efficiencies, thereby saving assessment time. The LOPA workshop Facilitator can also provide a technical scribe.

Risk Graph
